Dave Perrett and colleagues found that people prefer faces with characteristics that are similar to their parents. Although most people preferred faces with smooth complexions and other cues to youth (left face), people with parents who were older than average when they were born were more tolerant of faces with ‘lines and wrinkles’ (right face).
